PAPER CASTING
with Crafter's Pick "Fabric Stiffener"
by
.Delores F. Ruzicka, SCD |
Materials
Needed:
General Instructions:
1. Spray an even coat of vegetable spray onto the stamp, this is a
very important step so that the stamp is not ruined.
2. Make a "stack" of 4 squares of 2 ply toilet paper or 10 squares
of single ply toilet paper. Place the stack on the foam stamp(Make sure the
entire stamp is covered)
3. Use the 1" brush to saturate the toilet paper stack with Fabric
Stiffner. As the toilet paper begins to absorb the fabric stiffner, it will
fall around the detail of the stamp. A fine application spray of water may
be applied after the Fabric Stiffner has been put on. This will make the
toilet paper conform to the stamp design.'
4. Let dry thoroughly; overnight preferred.
5. Paper casting will easily pop off the stamp (the stamp may be washed
with warm water and dish detergent to remove any remaining vegetable
spray.
6. Paper casting can be trimmed close to the design using scissors
or apply water close to the design (this will soften the casting). You may
then tear the casting to create a deckle edge around the design.
7. Apply color (using acrylics, water colors, chalks or colored pencils
of your choice)
8. Paper casting may now be adhered to cards, journals or they may
be framed.
